First, the good news. Transforming your Rouse Hill bathroom into a serene oasis doesn't mean you need major renovations. With a few thoughtful cosmetic upgrades, you can create a space that is both functional, calm and visually appealing.

Top tips for transforming your Rouse Hill bathroom

Let’s look at some easy ways to upgrade your bathroom.

Make some cosmetic upgrades

So-called ‘cosmetic’ upgrades are kind of what they sound like: surface changes. Here are some simple but effective ways to give your bathroom a more cohesive look.

  • Decluttering: If you can hide products and get them off your countertops, your bathroom will look less busy and more serene. At the very least, you could place individual items into containers so the bathroom doesn’t look messy.
  • Vanity: Start by giving your vanity a fresh look. Consider replacing outdated doors and knobs with more modern options. If the vanity itself is in good condition and it’s built from the right materials, a coat of paint can do wonders.
  • Mirrors: A well-placed mirror. You might have a mirrored cabinet already but another mirror on a wall can instantly brighten up a bathroom. Choose a framed mirror with the frame complementing your bathroom style and colour palette.
  • Repainting and regrouting: If your bathroom walls or tiles are looking tired or you no longer like the colour, a fresh coat of paint or regrouting can make a significant difference. You can manage painting yourself. Regrouting is a tedious job but it’s worth doing.
  • Tapware: Worn or outdated tapware can make your bathroom look dated. Consider replacing it with a sleek and modern set that is budget friendly.
  • Extra storage: One of our favourite tips is to add a shelf above the door. This is a great spot to store towels, toiletries or decorative items like trailing plants.
  • Plants: Pothos (devil’s ivy) and orchids love bathroom humidity, bring a touch of nature into your bathroom and don’t need much maintenance.
  • Mixed metals: When choosing new tapware and mirror frames, think about maybe mixing black metal tapware with a brass or gold mirror frame to give your space more visual interest without too much effort.

Limit your colour palette

The ‘rules’ of interior design say you should limit your colours to just three in a 60:40:20 ratio, where 60% is the main colour, 40% is a secondary colour and 20% is an accent colour. Having just three colours will make your bathroom look larger and less cluttered. For example, you could use a soft grey as your main colour, a crisp white as your secondary colour and a bold blue as your accent colour. This combination would create a calming and sophisticated bathroom.

Coordinate your accessories

To further enhance the cohesive look of your bathroom, coordinate your accessories with your chosen colour palette. You can find containers for your shampoo and body wash in your chosen colours. Decant product into these containers. On a similar note, choose towels that match your colour scheme so the whole bathroom looks more refined.

Add mood lighting

Instead of a harsh overhead light, look for supplementary lighting like elegant wall sconces. You can find rechargeable wall lights online or at Bunnings that don’t need to be hard wired. You simply stick them to your wall and in some cases, operate them with a remote.

Your spa-like bathroom

By following our tips, you can transform your Rouse Hill bathroom into a bright and serene spa-like retreat. A limited colour palette combined with thoughtful cosmetic upgrades will create a space that is both functional and visually appealing. Best of all, it’s a transformation you can make in a weekend.
